TW: mention of rape, description of v-ct-m blaming attitudes
So fuck you, MRAs. Fuck you for showing up every time women speak, especially about rape and abuse, and trying to make it all about you. Fuck you for derailing threads about the victims of Marc Lépine, a man who screamed about his hatred for feminists as he murdered fourteen women and injured many others, because you also hate feminists and want a fucking cookie for not killing anyone. Fuck you for making rape and death threats against young women who dared to protest a speaking engagement by a man who thinks little girls would enjoy being raped by their fathers if it weren’t for society telling them it’s dirty. Fuck you for whining about how unfair it is that women might wonder if you’re a rapist when you approach them out of nowhere, while completely ignoring how unfair it is that women feel the need to be on guard all the time in public. Or that if we relax and behave normally — drinking, dancing, dressing however we want — you will be the first motherfuckers in line to blame us for getting ourselves raped.
WOW you go graffiti those girls restrooms walls
cover them with slogans like
‘DON’T BE AFRAID TO BE A FEMINIST’
when the women who are going to have to clean those walls at 4 am, while you sleep soundly in your warm bed in the suburbs, are immigrant women being paid minimum wage
you don’t think of them you don’t even see them
when you make your point by hurting women from my community don’t be surprised that we don’t have the least bit of respect for your idea of feminism
Seriously, the first rule of guerilla graffiti is to motherfucking make sure you put it where nobody has to erase it as a job
Like for real what the fuck were you thinking
Put it where NOBODY CLEANS OR CARES, OK?
Because you all have demonized what is actually a fucking religion into hell and gone and you use the word completely inaccurately and in many ways with negative connotations. Please stop.
I really don’t understand feminists who devote their life to hating on prolife people and promoting abortion
It’s disgusting. And you’re sad.
Remember when we had feminists like Susan B. Antony who spoke out against abortion?
What the fuck happened.
Times and issued changed. Anthony died in 1906, back when abortions were horribly unsafe. Who knows what she would think of modern day birth control and contraceptive issues?
More importantly: it doesn’t really matter.
OOH, OOH, I KNOW THIS ONE!
Susan B. Anthony was against abortion because (A) it was unsafe, and (B) she knew that the Double Standard of Gendered Sexuality often drove women to abortion because men raped woman or didn’t provide contraception, nor did they support the children that the women had.
Regardless of her stance, Susan B. Anthony had a lot of pro-choice ideas, too. She was for women controlling their lives (white women who were well-off, basically), especially when it came to childbirth, motherhood, and having children at all. She was only against abortion because it was painful and often killed women. She didn’t protest against it though. She even wrote to Elizabeth Cady Stanton that even if she didn’t personally agree with it, she wanted women to have a choice and that if it “leads to such an action, then I must support it for the sake of womanhood.” (This quote is from a book called “Sisters: The Lives of America’s Suffragists” by Jean H. Baker. I used it in my research essay last month!)
Her thinking was that if women had AVAILABLE CONTRACEPTION and that ALL WANTED CHILDREN WOULD BE SUPPORTED, then we wouldn’t NEED ABORTION. Ultimately, she grew on to accept that abortion and other forms of contraception were here to stay, even though she regretted that her sister-in-law had to have an abortion and suffered due to the poor hygiene of the hospital and medical equipment. She wasn’t necessarily AGAINST abortion, but she was against the events that DROVE women to abortion. She and Elizabeth Cady Stanton talked about abortion only about 2% of the time, but when they did, it was based on the lament that motherhood is difficult enough without women having to abort the children they couldn’t afford, and that womanhood was difficult enough without having women be FORCED to have children by their husbands, fathers, society, etc.
However, pro-choice feminists and people know that, while this line of thinking has its heart in the right place, it doesn’t have much of a place in pro-choice thinking now. But beyond that, Anthony was right: if we had available, safe, affordable contraception, then abortion would be rare.
BUT ANYWAY, TIMES HAVE CHANGED. Honest to god, if Susan B. Anthony was alive today, she’d most likely be on the pro-choice side as an advocate for contraception, which includes abortion.
So shut up, OP, you have no idea who or what you’re talking about.
I work as a nurse, and a very unwell man in his 40s came in with severe respiratory distress and heart failure. He had lifelong asthma, but was still smoking. He was also what the BMI would classify as morbidly obese.
We had a long chat about his health, and we both agreed that quitting smoking should be his priority.
I went back and mentioned the conversation to my colleague, who instantly threw in “and he needs to lose weight”. I threw back at them “He has put on weight in his life because of long term steroid use for his asthma, and both his lung disease and an old back injury severely limit his ability to exercise. His priority should be quitting smoking”.
They just said “Yes but if he lost weight he’d breathe much easier”.
This man has irreversible lung disease that is complicated by smoking & heart failure (which is directly caused by his lung disease), not his fat, but because that’s what’s on the outside and the thing we can all see, that’s what gets targeted and blamed.
And one of the black women was paired with a little black girl and when the little girl was asked when was it that she didn’t feel pretty and the little girl said “when I look at the color of my skin and my hair” and the model was like “why don’t you think those are beautiful?”
and the little girl said “because when I look at princesses they’re all pretty and they have different hair”
and then she started crying.
THIS IS WHY WE NEED REPRESENTATION OF ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE IN CHILDREN’S MEDIA.
THIS IS WHY WE NEEDED A BLACK PRINCESS WHO WASN’T AN ANIMAL MOST OF THE MOVIE, WHO DIDN’T WEAR HER HAIR IN A TIGHT BUN THE ENTIRE TIME.
THIS IS WHY PRINCESSES AND PRINCES OF DIFFERENT RACES AND SIZES CAN’T BE TOKENIZED, THEY NEED TO BE NORMALIZED.
New bra, new silicon-boob-enhancing-things, feeling like one super hot transdyke rn.
SHE IS ONE SUPER HOT TRANSDYKE ALWAYS. <3
